The Schoolhouse has ongoing mosaic workshops from Sept through June.  Please contact me if you are interested in joining us every Wednesday night.

Types of Workshops:
Advanced Mosaic Portraiture:  We will use traditional and non-traditional mosaic techniques of the student’s choice to understand facial structure, cross-contour, highlights, color, gradation, value and  types of shadows. We will learn how to "see" things differently. The students will learn how to mix glass values and hues to define planes (hills & valleys) of the facial anatomy and how to use color most effectively with artist tricks that will be taught. There will be an one hour demonstration and a life-like, 12" x 12" mosaic will begin from your portrait photograph.

We will also discuss:  adhesives, substrates, tesserae and flow of glass with facial planes. If you would like to bring your own tools, please do! We will work with stained glass in this class.

If you're available to join us, we will also have a breakfast gathering to get more acquainted.

I thank my mosaic friends for allowing me to utilize their works of art in the booklet.
A list of artists names and websites will be listed in the hand out.

Tempered Glass (crash glass) Mosaics:  We will show some glittering examples of beautiful mosaic collage using "Tempered Glass". (Also known as safety glass and crash glass. ) We will complete mosaic tiles using overlaying techniques, metallic papers, tissue, foils, glitter and milar and more. You can learn to create art with this recycled material. Tempered glass may be used to create architectural installations as well as beautiful art. Design, color and grouting techniques will be discussed in this workshop. We will grout the second day.

Tools and materials are included.   No experience necessary.

Mosaics 101, Mosaic 201 3D, GOG - The Direct Method     Wednesdays  7pm - 9pm
Schoolhouse Center

All Levels.  Students will design and create their own contemporary, fine art mosaic piece.  This is a comprehensive workshop that covers materials, tools, grouts, cutting & shaping techniques, placing tiles, substrates(surfaces), adhesives, safety and terminology used in mosaics. Students will be using the direct method for interior display.

A perfect introduction to glass mosaics!

After taking this workshop, you will have the knowledge necessary to construct almost any mosaic project.  No experience necessary.

201: We will discuss more complex styles and apply them to our work. We will also address exterior mosaics and appropriate materials for exterior projects.

3D: We will work on your choice of substrate: shoe, vase, bowling ball or just about any 3D form you choose!

GOG: We will work on a clear glass votive or flat plate of clear glass.
