Level: Background in mosaics is helpful
Advanced Mosaic Portraiture: We will use traditional and non-traditional mosaic techniques of the student’s choice to understand facial structure, cross-contour, highlights, color, shading, gradation and cast shadows. We will learn how to "see" things differently. The students will learn how to mix glass values and hues to define planes (hills & valleys) and how to use color most effectively with artist tricks that will be taught. There will be an one hour demonstration and a life-like, 12" x 12" mosaic will be created from your portrait photograph. You will be provided with the necessary supplies to complete your project.
We will also discuss: adhesives, substrates, tesserae and flow of glass with facial planes. If you would like to bring your own tools, please do! We will work with stained glass in this class.
If you're available to join us, we will also have a breakfast gathering to get more acquainted.
